POCATELLO, Idaho — The Pocatello community is mourning the tragic deaths of Brandon Lee Madden, 40, and Amanda Ann Christian, 36, who were killed in a shooting on Tank Farm Road in Power County on Friday, April 3, 2026. The Bannock County Coroner’s Office, in coordination with the Power County Coroner’s Office and Power County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed the victims’ identities and notified their families.
Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner expressed condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to the families involved and the Power County community affected by this tragedy.” A third decedent involved in an officer-involved shooting will be released pending next of kin notification.
The Power County Sheriff’s Office is leading the homicide investigation, supported by the Idaho State Police, Bannock County Coroner’s Office, and other local agencies. The Idaho Falls Police Department is investigating the officer-involved shooting. Assistance came from multiple local law enforcement and emergency services, including Bannock and Bingham County Sheriff’s Offices, Blackfoot, Chubbuck, Pocatello, and American Falls Police Departments, Idaho Fish and Game, Portneuf Air Rescue, and EMS from Pocatello, Fort Hall, and Power County.
Friends, neighbors, and community members expressed shock and grief. Madden and Christian were well-known and respected in Pocatello, and their sudden deaths have left a lasting impact. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation.
